I actually think I have mastered a Sunday routine that is perfect for any busy mom! This routine will not only have you feeling good, but also looking good, too!
While Saturdays are for kicking back and letting loose a little, Sundays are more like the calm before the storm.
Sunday is the day I have designated to prep for the week ahead. I set aside an hour or two and I review my upcoming week, my weekly meal plan, workouts, top priorities and any upcoming appointments.
Ever since having kids, I discovered that taking time to set up my upcoming week had an incredible positive impact on my mood, energy, productivity and health.
And as someone who sometimes struggles with anxiety, I’ve found that it helps me immensely to have a set of wellness rituals. And sometimes these rituals shift from one day to the next or season to season.
My Sunday reset routine is basically a fancy term for getting your act together before Monday hits. We’re talking laundry, cleaning, meal prep, kids lunchboxes—the whole shebang. Today I’ve put together a checklist of tasks to add to your Sunday reset routine. So let’s dive in.

A Sunday reset routine is like hitting the refresh button for your life every seven days. It’s all about taking a designated time each week—usually on a Sunday—to regroup, reorganize, and prepare yourself for the week ahead.
Think of it as a chance to tidy up both your physical and mental space. You might tackle chores like cleaning the house, doing a load of laundry, and meal prepping. But it’s not just about scrubbing floors and chopping veggies. It’s also about setting intentions for the week, prioritizing tasks, and maybe even squeezing in some self-care.

This is how I like to do it because as someone who constantly has a running to-do list in their mind, it can get pretty overwhelming. And when it’s not written down, it can be so easy to miss an appointment or an important task.
Simply grab a piece of paper or notebook and egin by writing down everything that’s on your mind—thoughts, ideas, tasks, worries, etc. Don’t worry about organizing or prioritizing at this stage; just get it all down on paper.
Once you’ve completed your brain dump, take a moment to review what you’ve written.
Use your brain dump as a starting point for planning and prioritizing your week, incorporating any key insights or tasks into your schedule and to-do list.
Plan for the Week
Now from your brain dump list, start by prioritizing which tasks need to be done first. Then schedule those at the beginning of the week and least important at the end. Add important events, appointments, and deadlines for the week ahead.
Review your calendar, email inbox, and any other relevant sources to ensure you don’t miss anything important.
Write down any work-related tasks or projects that need to be completed, along with deadlines and priorities.
Factor in time for self-care activities like exercise, relaxation, and hobbies to ensure you maintain a healthy work-life balance.
Make note of any chores that need to be tackled during the week, such as grocery shopping or cleaning.
Keep your list of priorities visible throughout the week to stay focused and on track. And don’t forget to schedule in downtime for yourself to recharge and unwind.
Review your plan at the end of each day to see what tasks you’ve completed and what still needs to be done.
List Top 3 Priorities of the Week
For moms like me, jotting down our top three goals and priorities for the week is a game-changer. You know how parenting is—crazy busy and always on the go. By nailing down those top priorities, you get a clear picture of where to focus your time and energy.
Plus, it helps cut through the stress and uncertainty that often comes with juggling a million things at once. With writing down your top 3 priorities for the week, it helps keep you focused and it’s way more manageable.
And let’s be real, there’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of checking things off that list and knowing you’re moving in the right direction. Take the time to reflect on your top three priorities that will have the biggest impact on your work, personal life, and overall well-being.
Meal Prep
Okay this one is a big one. I defintely do not have the time to prepare meals for every day of the week (if you do, more power to you!).
But one of the decisions that takes so much energy and mental space when we make it in real time is what we’re going to eat and what we are making for dinner. This is especially true when you’re making this decisions for your family.
Grab a pen and write down what you plan to eat for ALL meals (not just dinner). Knowing what you’re going to eat for every meal, every day ahead of time is a lifesaver. This is all about eliminating real time decision making which clears up so much head space for other tasks and to-dos. I know for me personally, if I do not have dinner planned ahead of time, I find myself reaching for a frozen pizza more than I’d like to admit. So having something planned and prepped is so important which is why I make it a non-negotiable in my Sunday reset routine for moms.
Try making dinner that lasts for two or three nights, make a few snacks for the week, or prepare a whole bowl of chia seed pudding or overnight oats that will come in handy for those busy mornings. You don’t have to prep everything. Even just having a few meals for the week ready goes a long way.
Plan Workouts
Take a look at your schedule for the week ahead and identify times when you’ll be able to fit in workouts.
Consider your fitness goals and preferences when planning your workouts, whether it’s cardio, strength training, yoga, or something else. I also like to add in the days where I’ll be taking an afternoon or evening walk.
Schedule your workouts like you would any other appointment, blocking out specific time slots for exercise.
Pamper and Self Care Routines
While I’m meal planning and prepping, I like to utilize habit stacking and add in a few self care routines like my weekly hair oiling routine and face masks. This helps me take care of more than one thing at a time and it’s also an incentive for me to get my meal prep done. If I know this is also a time that I’m adding in rosemary and pumpkin seed oil to my hair and adding a hydrating face mask, I’m way more likely to get the meal prep done at the same time.
And after all the hard stuff is over, like meal prepping and maybe catching up on laundry, it’s time for the fun part! Take an everything shower that includes throwing in a bath bomb or shower spray, exfoliating, shaving, maybe another mask and moisturizing. Nothing like doing a whole pamper routine on a Sunday night, to be honest. It makes me feel like a whole new person! End it with your skincare routine and you’ll feel recharged and ready for Monday morning!
Tidy Up and Declutter
When it comes to weekly cleaning routines, tackling the entire house might seem daunting, but focusing on key areas can make a big difference. Vacuuming high traffic zones like the kitchen, dining area, living room, and foyer once a week helps keep these spaces fresh and inviting.
Start by picking up any clutter that has accumulated throughout your home, putting items back in their designated places. Focus on one area at a time, such as the living room, kitchen, bedroom, or bathroom, to avoid feeling overwhelmed.
For those busy moms that are constantly in their car with pickups and drop offs and between all the activities, keeping your car clean might feel like a rare treat, but squeezing in a quick vacuum session not only gets rid of snack crumbs and forgotten toys but it’ll boost your mood when you go into a clean and organized car. Take time to also clear off those kitchen and bathroom countertops. It’s like a breath of fresh air as you step into your busiest rooms, setting the vibe for a new week.
Set up a money date
Okay, this one is probably a little bit different than what you’re used to seeing on a Sunday reset routine for moms, but I think a money date is so important.
You can do this every week or every month but a money date is a designated time set aside to review your finances, review your goals, and take proactive steps to manage your money effectively. It’s like a meeting with yourself to check in on your financial health and make sure you’re on track with your financial goals and just keeping track of your spending.
During a money date, you might review your budget, track your spending, set financial goals and plan for the week ahead.

And the final step in the routine reset is to take time to reflect and relax. Here are the steps I like to follow to help me unwind and relax:

- Take a few deep breaths to center yourself and let go of any tension or stress you may be holding onto.
- Reflect on the past week, acknowledging both the successes and challenges you experienced.
- Consider what lessons you learned and how you can apply them moving forward.
- Set intentions for the week ahead, focusing on what you want to accomplish and how you want to feel.
- Visualize yourself achieving your goals and imagine how it will positively impact your life.
- Practice gratitude by acknowledging the things you’re thankful for, both big and small.
- Take some time to treat yourself in activities that bring you joy and relaxation, whether it’s reading, listening to music, taking a bath, or spending time outdoors.
- Allow yourself to fully unwind and recharge, knowing that you’ve taken care of yourself and set yourself up for success in the week ahead.
- Finally, embrace the present moment and the opportunity to simply be, letting go of any worries or distractions and savoring the peace and tranquility of the moment.
