TikTok Green Goddess Salad With Chicken (nut-free)

This Green Goddess salad is a fast and simple cabbage salad that has gone mega viral on TikTok. Green Goddess salad is a popular salad, but the version that Baked by Melissa shares is light, easy and vegan. The version I will be making uses grilled chicken and Greek yogurt which adds a lot of protein making the salad filling and satisfying. The recipe is also nut-free for those with nut allergies.

The Green Goddess salad is quick and easy to make and the main ingredients include green cabbage, green onions and cucumbers. The green goddess dressing is named for its beautiful fresh green tint. The dressing is creamy and tastes fresh, herby and tangy because of the Greek yogurt and the herbs used. It has the creaminess of a ranch dressing but this version is light, healthy and zesty and is the perfect dressing for spring and summer.

Tips to make this recipe

  • Marinate the chicken ahead of time to save time and to get the most flavor.
  • Use a chopper to speed up the chopping and dicing process. I use this easy to use vegetable chopper.
  • If the dressing is too thick, add water, a tablespoon at a time until you get your preferred consistency.
  • Adjust flavors to your liking. Add pumpkin seeds for extra crunch and a boost of healthy fats, a dollop of yogurt, or dried cranberries if you like the sweet-and-salty combination like I do.

Green Goddess FAQ

Is Green Goddess dressing healthy?

Even though the original recipe uses anchovies, green onions, parsley, tarragon, mayo, sour cream, and chives, the green goddess salad dressing we’re making today is a much lighter and healthier version. This version is low carb (simple carbs to be specific) but loaded with fiber, protein and healthy fats.

What to put Green Goddess dressing on?

In wraps, on protein (like steaks or grilled chicken), on tacos and with tortilla chips. You can also make a quinoa salad with green goddess dressing (simply substitute the grilled chicken with quinoa).

Can you make the salad and dressing ahead of time?

You can make this salad ahead of time but the ingredients are best eaten fresh to preserve as much of the herby zesty and bright ingredients. It is also best to add the dressing when served.

I don’t like cabbage, what can I use instead?

This recipe is versatile and substitutions are easy. If you don’t like cabbage you can use chopped lettuce or kale instead.

How long will the dressing keep in the fridge?

The green goddess dressing can last up to 4 days in the fridge.

Does this salad taste good the day after?

The time frame for this recipe is short if mixed ahead of time. If the salad is mixed, it will last 1-2 days in the fridge. However, if you keep the ingredients separate it can last up to 4 days in the fridge.
