Ingredients

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal or any crispy rice cereal
  • 1/2 cup nut butter
  • 1/2 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup protein powder whey vanilla
  • 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips optional

Instructions

  • Before you start, ensure you have all the ingredients measured and ready. This will make the process smoother and more efficient.
  • In a large mixing bowl, pour in the 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal. Set the bowl aside for now.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl or on the stovetop, gently heat the 1/2 cup of nut butter and 1/2 cup of honey (or maple syrup) until they are smooth and well combined. Stir well to ensure the mixture is silky and pourable. Please note you can also use regular or sugar-free marshmallows here.
  • Once your nut butter and sweetener are thoroughly mixed, it's time to enhance the nutritional value. Gradually blend in the 1/4 cup of protein powder (this could be whatever protein powder you have on hand like vanilla protein powder, whey protein powder or your favorite protein powder). Make sure the protein powder is evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
  • Pour the protein-infused nut butter and sweetener mixture over the Rice Krispies in the large mixing bowl. Using a spatula or wooden spoon, gently fold and mix until all the cereal is well coated with the mixture. Take care not to crush the cereal; you want to maintain those crispy air pockets.
  • For an extra layer of flavor and indulgence, sprinkle in 1/4 cup of dark chocolate chips and fold them into the mixture. If you prefer to keep the recipe lower in sugar, feel free to skip this step.
  • Transfer the mixture into a greased 9x13-inch pan or a similar-sized container. Using a spatula, press down firmly to compact the mixture evenly.
  • Allow your Protein Rice Krispies to set for at least an hour at room temperature, or you can expedite the process by placing them in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
  • Cut into squares and enjoy!
